Adam Cooke (Cape Breton) 535-3481/ adamjrcooke@yahoo.ca Imaginative and upbeat singer-songwriter, Cooke has performed in English and French at schools in Sydney, Cheticamp, Richmond and Lunenburg Counties, Lockeport, Digby Neck and Tusket. He recently conducted a youth songwriting workshop as part of the CREATE Program.

Beverly Brett (Baddeck) sabp@ns.sympatico.ca 929-2426 has worked 25 years in theatre as a director, playwright, actor and educator. Her Learning Through the Arts Program projects have focused on developing language arts, social studies, and science, using improvisation and collective script creation.

Visual Arts

 

Kenny Boone (Dominion) was born and raised in Cape Breton and began painting professionally in the early 1990’s. As an emerging artist, watercolour was his medium of choice and his surroundings influenced his style. Cape Breton continues to inspire him to paint land and seascapes but his creative curiosity has led him in new directions. His portfolio now includes people, abstracts and another medium-acrylic paint.


Sandra Christmas (Membertou)
is a versatile and talented artist.  Sandra's Mi'kmaq heritage plays a strong role in her artwork.  She has worked with Membertou Elementary in Cape Breton on a dynamic ArtsSmarts Nova Scotia project involving Mi'kmaq visual art and drumming.

Shirley Christmas (Membertou) is an experienced and creative artist.  Shirley has worked with the ArtsSmarts Nova Scotia program on a project at Membertou Elementary.  This exciting project also involved students from other schools in the area, who were invited to Membertou to share cultural experiences and learn more about Mi'kmaq art and heritage.

Patsy MacAulay-MacKinnon (New Waterford) This watercolour artist works in a realist style influenced by her Cape Breton heritage. She has incorporated her experience as a published illustrator and earlier training as a registered nurse into many of the school projects she has participated in.

John McIntyre (Sydney) jemcintyre@syd.eastlink.ca John is a versatile artist with extensive experience in cartooning. He has worked with several schools teaching drawing to children and produced and hosted "The Drawing Room", a TV show teaching children how to draw cartoons.

Katherine Scott (Sydney) is a skilled book maker and crafts person.  She has taught book arts to numerous groups and works for the Cape Breton Centre for Craft and Design.
